Lately 'slang' terms have become like 50% of the vocabulary you need to know to "properly" chat in english with someone specially from the US . A lot of people have asked me lately what does .... means? regarding to lots of those terms, so maybe this could be a good place to make a compilation of the most useful english slang terms you know and their 'translation'. Some of the slang terms are just misspellings like Pwned (Owned) maybe they should be here too.
commonly used:
LOL = laughing out loud (writen as LULZ in plural... sometimes)
OMG = oh! my god
WTF = what the fu..*
M8 = mate :cansado:
BRB = be right back
G2G = got to go
* = can I write 'bad' words in english on this forum?
I hope you feel like replying :P cyall around.

haha w1ll1a9m it's origin is "laughing out loud" like Rikardov says.
And that wiki link oesoto posted explains pretty much every slang used nowadays anyway... though i can add a few ones not mentioned there:
lawl/lul/lulz = all the same as lol except a more slangy/bastardized version xP
ic = "I see..."
gn = good night
gluck = good luck
sry = i'm sorry
pw/pass = password
bb = bye bye
i know a few more but those are what i remember at the top of my head..

Ya well, the forum is suppossed to have only the most common ones, but the link was really useful, kinda explains everything... There are some other l33t-ish expresions around that aren't on the list, if you know some of those, post 'em here too.
And about lol bastardisations(?) lulz is often used as a Noun like on the over-used (but still funny) meme "I did it for the lulz" but noone cares.
btw (by the way) bastardisation is one hell of a word, its now on my top-5 fav words thanks to you Sukebe

Canadians use some slang terms that aren't really known, like by' (boy) or neel (idk if its dude or cool) but they don't change every word/sentence when they're writing like 'americans' do. Chatting with 'americans' specially the ones who 'live' in the internet can be a real nightmare, they just tend to use everything that has become popular in a moment e.g. common misspellings (liek, teh, pwned, wai etc, etc) and that's when ur lucky. So I have to say, americans use the most slang terms.

Well, hehehe, the other day I was chatting on usa room (Garena) and some canadians logged there :P, I gotta tell you, they were really a pain in the ass, I couldn't understand some stuff they were saying, but I guess I haven't talked to the ones u mention there, xD!

You have been really lucky then, and maybe the canadians were "lolspeakers" or "leets" or some crap like that, nowadays netspeak is really common and not exclusive to americans, even I am starting to write a lot of those expressions I used to hate :S. I guess its just a matter of getting used to it.

Here are some more:
FOAD = **ck off and die
HAND = have a nice day (usually said after someone treats you like crap. -e.g. FOAD bitch, HAND ^_^)
IIRC = If I remember/recall correctly
and this is not too common but it looks like its gonna spread soon
TL;DR = too long, didnt read (used when someone writes a horribly long/boring post that noone cares about).

Well, I post'd em because of a message a guy sent to me on Youtube today. It says a LOT of angry things because hes a troll, he just wants me to get angry and reply to his message, I knew he was a troll (obvious only by looking at his channel) so I replied to a message telling him "lern2english" just to piss him off, and he wrote... (see attachment).
I only post this because its got a lot of slang terms and "leetish" expressions that might be relevant to this thread. Also it is lol to see how angry this guy is. Btw, im not an emo, he just brought that out of nowhere.
IDGAF = I dont give a fu**
W/ETF = Whatever the fu**
When you need/want to chat with a guy like this youll sure learn lots and lots of new terms. :P
