No, Google isn't buying Sun. And Sun isn't buying Google. And Star Office isn't going to be rebranded Google Office (at least not yet). What was the big Google/Sun announcement we were all waiting for? Basically, that Sun will include the Google Toolbar as an optional part of the downloadable Java Runtime Environment. Given that JRE isn't exactly a hot download (when was the last time you rushed over to Sun's site to snag the latest version?), this doesn't exactly seem like it's going to be a huge deal for Google. Oh, the companies also "agreed to explore opportunities to promote and enhance Sun technologies, like the Java Runtime Environment and the OpenOffice.org productivity suite." So, we may just see Google Office yet. But not quite as soon as some had imagined.
