Sony ha liberado nuevos diseños conceptuales del sistema "Playstation Portable" o PSP, en la reunion corporativa estrategica llevada a cabo en la ciudad de Nueva York.
El diseño del PSP es bastante diferente al del Gameboy Advance, el PSP posee una forma rectangular con angulos curveados, con una pantalla TFT LCD de 4.5 pulgadas en formato widescreen de 16:9; el drive de UMD (Universal Media Disc) esta ubicado en la parte trasera del aparato. Tambien posee una tapa snap-on y un orificio para colocar un llavero.
