Nokia Nuevos ACER Windows Mobile... DX900, X960, F900, M900

It's taken quite some time for Acer to bring out its first Acer branded devices after its takeover of Eten who made the Glofiish Windows Mobile devices, but Acer has now revealed four now Smartphones which offers a fairly appealing feature set.

First up is the DX900 which was announced by Eten before the Acer takeover. This is a dual SIM model which has one 3G radio with HSDPA support, tri-band 3G (850, 1900 and 2100MHz) and quad-band GSM as well as a tri-band GSM radio with 900, 1800 and 1900MHz support. This should be a great handset for those that do a lot of travelling, as it would allow you to purchase a local pre-pay SIM card for cheap calls.

The DX900 is powered by a 533MHz Samsung SC3 6400 processor, it has 128MB of RAM and 256MB of ROM. The screen measures 2.8-inches and it has a 480x640 resolution. Other features include a 3Megapixel camera, built in GPS, an accelerometer, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and a microSD card slot.

It's a bit chunky at 17mm thick and 147g, but the dual SIM functionality might be enough to make this a good seller for Acer. You can find the product page here

Next up is the similarly spec'd X960 which shares the same processor, memory, display, camera WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS module. This handset has a slightly different design and it supports HSDPA and HSUPA on the 850, 1900 and 2100MHz bands as well as quad-band GSM.

The X960 is somewhat slimmer at 13.7mm and it weighs in at 131.5g. There aren't any real stand-out features of this handset, but if the price is right, it might become popular. The product page can be found here

The F900 is a slightly different beast and it has in our opinion a much nicer design with very sleek lines. It has a larger 3.8-inch 480x800 resolution WVGA touch screen display (the same as on the new HTC devices), a 533MHz Samsung S3C 6410 processor, 128MB of RAM and 256MB of ROM. We can't but feel that Acer has skimped a bit in the memory department of this handset which really is a shame, since this is a premium model.

Other features include the same tri-band HSDPA/HSUPA and quad-band GSM support as the X960, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, a GPS module, a 3Megapixel camera and an accelerometer. At 12.85mm thick and 150g heavy, this is a rather weighty handset, but it's thinner than HTC's new Diamond2 which should be its closest competitor. You can find more details here

Finally we have the M900 which has a slide-out keyboard and a finger print scanner to set it apart from the other new Acer devices. It has the same 3.8in WVGA as the F900 and it uses the same processor and memory configuration. However, Acer has added a 5Megapixel camera to the M900 which seems a bit odd, as we would've thought the F900 ought to have had the same.

The M900 offers the same network connectivity as the previous two models, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR, GPS and an accelerometer. Due to the slide-out keyboard, this beast weighs in at a whopping 188g and it's 17.1mm thick, which means it's not going to fit comfortably in most shirt pockets. More here
