I quite agree with FabianC's idea. It would be really contributing to have the chance to discuss specific topics.
As far as I'm concerned, i consider controversial topics can be the right ones to discuss. I mean, topics that involve moral-ethical values and backbround experience.
So, I'm proposing the following topics to discuss. Please let me know what you think about them:
.Abortion
.Gay marriage
.Presidential re-election
.Cloning
.Life in other planets
.Racism
.Chauvinism vs Feminism
I'd like to start with cloning. Since I'm not a dogmatic individual, I pretty much think it can be allowed under some specific conditions such as: re-generating body barts. The problem, in my concept, would be with religion, because God is the only one supossed to have the right to "create" life. Therefore, some religious people might affirm humans can't play God. The other stuff is a scientific consideration, because the long-term effects in cloned individuals are still to be probed. Besides, there are some studies that suggest cloned creatures live shorter and are more likely to develop a number of diseases.
What do you think about cloning?
