[QUOTE = "mature, post: 5738732, member: 472889"] The purpose of this Tutorial is to Explain how to connect our own router to ONT ETB, in order to manage the connection to the Internet via PPPoE directly.
The first thing to Consider Is That the services of Internet, TV and telephony are separated into different virtual networks -VLAN well:
Internet: VLAN ID 300
Phone: VLAN ID 100
TV: VLAN ID 200
That is, That for our router can Establish Its Own direct connection to the Internet, traffic to send to the network must be marked ETB With the VLAN ID 300. This is Where the first problem Arises Because routers Usually users buy the home, do not VLAN handle.
NEVERTHELESS, there are several ways to Solve this problem. The first method is to place a switch supports VLAN That Between the ONT and our router. As This was not the method I used the second step, Which is Necessary to update the firmware of our router.
I made tests with 2 routers, and worked in the 2 connection.
Step 1. Update your router firmware
Option 1. Firmware Manufacturer (router TP-LINK TL-WR841HP v1)
That We Must First Consider the Ethernet ports on the router TP-LINK TL-WR841HP are 100Mbps. To my 20Mbps Internet connection it works perfectly. However, for 150Mbps Internet connections, use a router With Gigabit Ethernet ports.
The router firmware selling With TP-LINK TL-WR841HP in Colombia does not support VLAN. If we look at the TP-LINK page Colombia, the latest available firmware does not support it. However, there is a firmware created for Malaysia, Which Makes This work. The download page is:
http://www.tp-link.com.my/support/download/?model=TL-WR841HP&version=V1 . Keep in mind That the version of the firmware must match the router. In my case it was the V1.
Once you downloaded the file, update the firmware of your router Through the "System Tools" menu using the "Firmware Upgrade" option.
When the update is complete, the "Network" menu a new option called "VLAN settings" is created.
Now you must make the configuration shown in the figure below. In "VLAN Mode" select the "Other" option and configure all ports With VLAN ID "300" That All May so for Internet work, and save the changes.
Then in the WAN menu option "Network", the PPPoE username and password Obtained from the ONT is configured, and save the changes.
Besides routerTP-LINK TL-WR841HP, other router from the same manufacturer to Which you can upgrade the firmware to support one VLAN. On the next page are the firmware:
http://www.tp-link.com.my/support/download/ . Not all firmawe this page VLAN support. You should read the description of the firmware. This is a non-exhaustive list, the TP-LINK router supports VLAN With That firmware update from the manufacturer:
Archer C7 V2
TL-WDR4300 V1
TL-WDR3600_V1
TL-WR1043ND_V1 and V2
TL-WR841HP V1
TL-WR841N V7, V8 and V9
TL-WR841ND V7, V8 and V9
2. Firmware third option (OpenWRT)
The first thing to be checked is the compatibility of router (model and version) With OpenWrt, entranto the following link:
http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/start . Also it verifies That VLAN support, in the "VLAN Settings" column.
Once located the router on the list, the statement Indicated for the firmware installation there are Followed.
After installed, we Entered the router and headed to the "Network", "Interfaces" option, and we click on "Edit" in the WAN.
In "General Setup" we select PPPoE and enter the username and password (In step 2 How to Obtain Explained).
Later in the "Physical Settings" tab select the "Custom Interface" option and intruducimos the eth1.300, Depending on the WAN interface, Which in my case is eth1.
Finally, we click on "Save & Apply".
Step 2. Configuring the ONT (Alcatel-Lucent I-240W-A)
For the PPPoE username and password must be Entered to the modem and download the configuration file. It is in the "Maintenance" option "Backup and Restore" menu. Once there, click on Export. The file you download the program opens With the following link:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/router_password_recovery.html . Up When the file is opened, press Ctrl + F. In the window That comes out, enable the "Match case" and look for the following: v = "ETB There's the username and password for PPPoE ..
The ONT has 4 Ethernet ports: 2 Marked with IPTV (configured in bridge mode) and Internet 2 (configured in router mode). In principle, all ports can be used for any service, Depending on how you configure. However, the ports Marked with IPTV Appear to Have burned in the ONT That does not allow them to be used for another service (that is what I have so far and I burned many tabs Concluded by testing One of These ports) code.
Considering the above, we Entered our ONT to "Network" option "LAN" menu and change the port 2 to bridge mode and save changes. For some reason if done at port 1, the phone is not working.
Then we proceed to disable Internet WAN connection ONT. To Do This we enter the "Network" option "WAN" menu. There, in "WAN ConnectionList" select the "4_INTERNET_R_VID_300" and deactivate the option "Enable / Disable" box and save the changes.
Step 3. Connect the equipment
We must simply connect the WAN port on your router to port 2 of the ONT (port labeled "Data 2").
The following is wait for the router to Establish the connection to the Internet and go. I hope They serve. [/ QUOTE]
Hi,
I am from Saudi Arabia and I have the same modem "Alcatel-Lucent I-240W-A". The Difference Is That I have only one under WAN connection type of connection as you can see on the screenshot below. Also, I have Linksys router "WRT1900ACS". I tried to turn off the WAN Connection with VLAN ID 881. I Set the router into PPPoE connection mode, Set the VLAN ID to 881 and 1 priority, LAN2 in bridge mode and plugged the Ethernet port 2 from the modem to the Internet port in the Linksys the but nothing Happened router. I tried making a new WAN connection on the modem setting the VLAN ID to 881 and 300, also, nothing Happened. I Could not Establish the connection untill now. Right now, I am using the router in bridge mode, Which is working as an access point and Minimizing the potential of my router. May be I Could get help to resolve the problem here in September and the router as the main center for my home network connection. Thanks in advance for your help, and forgive me for using English as I do not speak Spanish-Google Translator helped me in this topic.
